Festivals of Gujarat are as diverse as its physical features; they are vivid, colourful and beautiful. Various types of festivals are celebrated in Gujarat because it is an electric of people. For people of Gujarat, every day is a celebration, approximately 12,365 fairs and festivals are hosted everywhere which makes the state one of its kinds in the world.
Even the movement of the sun or oncoming of harvesting seasons is a matter of celebration for the people of Gujarat. Navaratri, the festival of feminine divinity in the forms of the goddesses Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswati, is the major festival celebrated in Gujarat. In fact, Navaratri is the longest dance festival in the world. Similarly, International Kite Festival celebrated during Uttarayan, is yet another famous festival celebrated across Gujarat. Raksha Bandhan, Janmashtami, Bhadra Purnima Fair, Urs, Diwali and Holi are the other festivals celebrated in the state.
Every month of the year keeps on buzzing with different fairs celebration. Agriculture, commercial, industrial, Religious, Trade and the list of exhibitions seems endless. Kite festival, Modhera dance festival, Rann Utsav, Bhavnath festival Mahashvratri, and Chitra- Vichitra Fair are some famous fests of Gujarat. In Industrial hubs like Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot keeps on buzzing with the many fashion, art, handicrafts, food and commercial fairs.
